Company Background
Pacific Canbriam Energy is a Canadian natural gas exploration and production company focused on the Montney region of Northeastern British Columbia. The company owns and operates all field infrastructure, including natural gas processing facilities, gathering pipelines, and water handling assets.
The Challenge
At Pacific Canbriam’s produced water storage facilities, the team faced ongoing challenges:
- Premature failure and weathering of ribbons and other bird deterrent components.
- High maintenance demands, including frequent visual inspections and monthly repairs.
- Labour downtime and replacement costs caused by deteriorating deterrent materials.
Previous bird deterrent methods required constant visual inspections and, at times, monthly repairs or replacements.
The Solution
Pacific Canbriam adopted Rise Tape to address these issues, seeking a solution that offered superior durability and reduced operational effort.
While installation was similar in nature to previous bird deterrent methods, it was easier with Rise Tape, with a faster install and reduced cost.
Rise Tape was installed at the produced water storage sites and has now been in continuous use for over four years.

Results
- Significantly reduced maintenance: Rise Tape strips resist UV and weather deterioration.
- Lower long-term operational costs: Fewer replacements and reduced labour requirements.
- Extended product lifespan: Service life increased by at least three years, and still performing.
- Improved safety and efficiency: Fewer disruptions for inspections and repairs.
Rise Tape has significantly reduced maintenance costs and extended the life by 3 years and counting.
Summary
Rise Tape provided Pacific Canbriam Energy with a durable, cost-effective bird deterrent solution that improved site safety, reduced downtime, and freed up valuable maintenance resources for other critical operations.
